Hiking the Pilgrim Community Forest
When I left off in my previous post, the rain was about to stop falling on our hike at the Pilgrim Community Forest. This trail is located just north of the Pilgrim River on the Paradise Road near its junction with Pilgrim Road. The 5.6 mile out-and-back hike had us completely enveloped in gold!
Last week started with the U.P. getting hit with its first big snow event of the season with areas to the west, south, and east receiving well over a foot of snow, but somehow we managed to skate by with a mere dusting here in Chassell. I spent my Monday cranking out the minutes from the previous month’s Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club board meeting and getting them distributed to the board ahead of Tuesday evening’s board meeting in Hancock. The weather also provided the opportunity to get caught up with number of indoor tasks.
Shannon Vairo and I met on Wednesday morning as a follow up to the networking event. We were pleased with how the event turned out and discussed opportunities for improvement. At noon, I met with the CEO Roundtable to present on Remote Workforce Keweenaw at the invitation of Xeratec’s CEO, Steve Hillstrom. It was awesome to be able to share the initiative with this important group. I attended a Dial Help Compliance Committee meeting that afternoon via Zoom. At 6 p.m. we headed over to Houghton to meet up with the Keweenaw Running Group to run the MTU Trails.
