In Search of Thimbleberries!
Last week started with the concrete pour for the apron connecting our new garage to our driveway! Jeff Heikkinen who did the block work for our garage did an awesome job on this project for our contractor Phil Sladek with Early Bird Construction. They are both great people to work with if you have those types of construction needs!
I finally squeezed in a little fishing by hitting one of my favorite spots on Portage Lake in the fishing kayak! We had a nice calm window between rains and I was able to hook one northern just short of being a keeper on my third cast.
We are getting into the thimbleberry season so we got out in search of some during the middle of the week. It was still a little early, but there were plenty out there about ripen! We did run across an abundance of wildflowers in the course of our search!
Wednesday’s Keweenaw Running Group run was pleasant with temperatures in the 60s with a cooling rain in the second half of the run!
Thursday morning I had an awesome visit over coffee at Cyberia Cafe in Houghton with remote worker Izaak Lauer who is an MTU graduate who recently came back to the area from Philadelphia. Stay tuned for this software engineer’s Remote Workforce Keweenaw vignette!
Thursday afternoon we got out for hike on the Chassell Fitness Trail with a side hike over to Hamar Creek Falls!
